Start with interest, not curriculum.
Attention changes when the work begins with something a young person already cares about.
A pathway works better when it starts with a real interest instead of asking a young person to care about a program first.
The sequence is simple: interest → project → mentor → next step. The project makes the interest useful. The mentor adds support and accountability. The next step keeps the relationship from ending when the first task is finished.
What this changes
The goal is not to manufacture motivation. It is to notice what is already there and connect it to useful work, income where available, proof they can show, and a person who stays involved.
